Toby Adkins is a Native Texan, a happy husband, and proud father to his two adult daughters. Professionally, he is a certified Numismatic Scholar and author. He has written several books both nonfiction and fiction. Decades with one foot in the professional business world and the other foot firmly planted in the outdoors has given Toby a unique knowledge, perspective, and insight. This background allows him to see and express just the right amount of detail in his work and is also known to keep his readers moving along with his valuable and interesting narrative. Toby’s most current nonfiction work is American Silver Eagles - Type 1 Collecting Strategies published in 2023. In fiction, HOMEBOUND was published in 2024. When not behind his desk you will most likely find Toby in the middle of his next tactical firearms training or high up in a tree with his hunting bow in hand. Feel free to look around and learn more.
When I am indoors, I am a Numismatic Scholar certified by the American Numismatic Association. It sounds hefty but just means I look at a lot of coins! I have worked for an outstanding organization for over twenty five years and wear more than a few hats. Being responsible for our monthly blog, Rare Coin Report, keeps me infused in my love of writing. My numismatic works are American Gold Eagle: The Collector guide, published in 2013 and American Silver Eagles: Type 1 Collecting Strategies published 2023. In 2022, I published two eBooks on bartering. They are: Best Barter Items You Need Now and Barter Better: Top Tactics to Increase Your Barter Power. I have always wanted to keep pushing myself with writing and decided to make the plunge into a novel. HOMEBOUND released in 2024 and is the beginning of my first series. I hope all of you will take this journey with me!
When I am outdoors, I thrive! Naturally, I am older than cell phones, the internet, and video games. I grew up running around barefoot, drank most of my water out of a hose, and somehow survived countless trips in the bed of my Dad's pickup. In some places that world still exists but it's few and far between. Dad really passed on this love to me. Fishing, hunting, and camping were my favorite times. I passed these loves onto my two girls as well, I encourage them to do the same.
The opening day of bow season is truly my Christmas morning. I cannot begin to tell you the many experiences I have had in the middle of a tree in the middle of nowhere. I am ready to get out there!
Now, to finish on a sappy note, my hikes with my wife, Tish, are the best times. Often planned, but sometimes impromptu, the outdoors only brings you closer to others. The sharing of experiences, the beauty of nature, and seeing the wild is something we both cherish. I truly believe the time spent outdoors with my family only made us closer and stronger. God bless you all!
